This week was extraordinary. We read Quick As A Cricket. It was full of similes. We practiced using similes in our writing. We also worked on -ame words. In math, we practiced ways to make ten. We used balances and blocks to find equal ways to make ten. We are still reading books by Leo Lionni. We read Biggest House In the World. We learned about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. We learned about the drinking gourd. It was a big dipper made out of stars. Today is Miranda's pretend birthday. Her real birthday is Sunday. Sunday is also Dr. Seuss's birthday. Today is the last day of February. We finished reading Mr. Popper's Penguins. Wednesday and Thursday we had early release. This week was magical. I wish we could have it again!

This week we had so much fun! We missed Valentine's Day, so we pretended it was this week. We had so much fun because we got lots of candy. We read Franklin's Valentines, The Big Snowfall, and Clifford's First Valentine. We learned about making tens. The easiest way to find all the ways to make ten is to make a pattern. If we keep practicing, we can get better and better. We read more Lionni books this week. One was called Pezzetino. That means "little pieces". We also read An Extraordinary Egg, and we wrote about and decorated eggs. We read The Alphabet Tree, and we made our own alphabet trees on the computer. We read Fish is Fish, too. We also started learning about Harriet Tubman. She was brave, and she led slaves to freedom. That's why we had a great week!
Last week was fun! We had our 100 Book Club celebration. Some moms and dads came to watch, and we got certificates. We wore special shirts, we got to eat cookie cake, and we even got 100 Book Club waters! Today is Izabella's birthday. She is seven. In math we were very smart. One day Mrs. Baker showed us something new without saying a word. We were able to understand it! For science we made groundhogs and used flashlights to see the shadow. We also drew shadows. Last week was awesome!
