This week was fun. We read the book Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. Some people got to make a paper Lilly. We learned about l blends. Today we read Chester's Way. The cafeteria air conditioner smoked. We had to go on the top of a hill. We went in the shade when it got too hot, but then we got to go inside. We had to eat lunch outside, and some of us had to eat in the classroom. Mrs. Baker shared her lunch. We learned how to write number sentences up and down. We learned ways to make 7, 8, 9, and 10. We learned how to subtract. We learned what planet, continent, state, country, and city we live on. We are reading a chapter book called My Father's Dragon. The book got an award! There's a lot of different chapters! My favorite part is when the tigers chew the gum. We get to do Fun Friday today. We have homework. We have a lot of marbles in our jar. School makes you smart!

This week was great, and I like everyone! We had lots of fun. We read the story Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum has 13 letters in her name. We used a paper cut-out of Chrysanthemum and crumbled her to show when she wilted, and when her friends and family helped her bloom, we flattened her out. Victoria was very mean! We made connections and wrote about ways we could be her friend. We made a story map. We also watched the movie! We also read Sheila Rae the Brave. We read a hippo book and learned that we have to stop at periods. We took some pre-tests. In math we learned about the commutative property. It is when you have 3+2 = 5, and 2+3 is the same thing. We did zero property. It means when you add zero to any number, it is the same number. We practiced the writing process. We made a plan, and then we wrote our story. In Social Studies we sang the globe song with all the continents. We had book buddies this morning! We learned a lot! Wow!
We had a great first week. Christopher stayed on the beanbag for calendar. We move the frog every day for calendar. We got lots of marbles. We got all the way to 76 on our hundreds chart. We read Wemberly Worried by Kevin Henkes. We got to take home a little owl. I love being reporter. I want to stay reporter, but other people want to do it, too. We used math tools and learned how to add. We learned that the answer when you add is called the sum. We also made a graph and found out that we had 2 daycares, 3 cars, and 16 buses. Our teachers are Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Henderson, and Mrs. Hamilton. Our classroom is clean. We have little stuffed animals poking out of the tree. We have two days of P.E. this week. We move the frog to know which specials. I made lots of friends! Our teachers are nice. We learned that the bumps on the globe are mountains. We learned the vowel song. We love learning!
I really enjoyed meeting everyone today. What a wonderful group of students and parents! It's going to be a great year!
