This week was the best week ever! Sunday was St. Patrick's day. We had teddy bear day today because we are learning about Teddy Roosevelt. He was president in 1901. He died in 1919. Today is the Spring Carnival. Today we are going to look at the book fair and write our wish lists. We sorted our Dr. Seuss books in two ways: books that we read or didn't read, and by setting. The setting is where the story takes place. Reagan L.'s mom is coming today. In writing we learned about paragraphs. In math we are learning about fact families. Today at book buddies there was a new student. We read Bartholomew and the Oobleck. We drew castles, and today we are going to put oobleck all over them. We also read the 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. We had a fantastic week!
This week was awesome! Today some people found four leaf clovers! This week was Ms. Henderson's birthday, and we had cupcakes! We learned about Teddy Roosevelt. His nickname was Teedy. He had asthma and he couldn't see very well. He wasn't very strong when he was young. His wife and his mom died on Valentine's Day. He felt very sad. Later he married someone else and had 5 kids! Teddy was smart. He went to Harvard. He protected the Grand Canyon and other places. He also made the Panama Canal. He had a group called the Rough Riders. He turned out to be a president! He was the youngest president yet, and he was the 26th one. Miles's birthday is Sunday which is also St. Patrick's Day! Last week was Ivey's birthday. In math we're learning about related facts. That was our week!
We had a great week! We went on a field trip to the Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center. There was a garden on the roof! We learned about bird and frog sounds. We also learned about echolocation. We had little bugs and we had to try to get them to the dark side. Some people remember that they said the bugs had twelve legs. We passed around an owl leg and an owl pellett, and we saw a dead possum! We learned that possums use their tails to balance. They are good climbers. We learned that when it is scared, a chemical causes it to freeze and look dead. We also got to see a turtle named Bubba. Bubba was actually a girl, but they named her before they knew. If we touched Bubba, she would think that our fingers are food. We also learned about life many centuries ago. The field trip was fun!
This week was a great week! Today we got a new student named Austin. He is very nice and kind. He met 21 new friends! We also thought about our old friend Jamie who moved to a new school. Yesterday was his birthday. We made him cards and mailed them to his school. Today we were celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday at school because his birthday is really on Saturday. Lots of moms came to read, and we even had a fourth grader read to us. Some even stayed for lunch. Jackson's mom read The Lorax and we got to eat truffula trees made out of cotton candy! The Cat In The Hat also read two books to us: Green Eggs and Ham, and The Cat In The Hat. Reagan L.'s mom brought us "one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish" to eat. The Grinch, his dog, and a fish are our new stuffed visitors. We learned a lot this week, too. We learned about high and low pitch and high and low volume in science this week. We also learned that sounds waves are in the air, but we can't see them. In math we designed traps to catch a Zoid. The traps were in the shape of a trapeziod. We also learned to do crossword math puzzles. The hardest thing was learning algebra. It was kind-of tricky. We finished our scribble stories in writing this week. We did word ladders for Word Work. One of them was called "Animal Enemies". It started with "dog", then we changed one letter each time and ended with "cat". We also did one called "Color Change". Yesterday was our last day of having art specials with Ms. Ellett because it is almost the end of the nine weeks. We'll miss her, but she'll teach us again next year. Aiden got to be on the announcements to help teach the school about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We had an awesome week!
