Yesterday we explored the concept of pi. The students used yarn to measure the diameter of a circle, then cut as many pieces as it would take to wrap around the circumference. They were amazed that no matter what size circle they used, it always took about 3 pieces! Then we looked at the symbol that is used to represent that concept. (pi) We also looked on the computer at the number used to represent pi, and saw it shown with a million digits after the decimal point. They were amazed at all those numbers!
