This week was a good week! We are learning about the water cycle. We are doing an experiment to find out if water will evaporate when there is a lid on it. We are learning about telling time in math. We learned that you read the hour hand first, then the minute hand. We learned that if you can't see the little hand, it's because it's on the same number as the big hand. When the minute hand is on the twelve, it means o'clock. We also wrote math goals. Today we brought stuffed animals and toys because we filled up the marble jar. We practiced abc order. We read a book called The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. I love school!

I can't wait to tell how good this week was! We had a new special. It was math! We had fun doing centers in our math special. We have been reading about bats. We also watched the Reading Rainbow about Stellaluna. In math we practiced measuring and learning about things that are longer and shorter. We are learning how to do an experiment in science. We learned how to use the scientific method to first think of a question, then what we think might happen. Next we do the experiment. It is about a drop of water. Some people noticed that the drop of water in our science book looks like the drop on our water bottles. We also learned about measuring the wind. We will do that on Monday. We practiced handwriting during word work. We filled our marble jar! We will vote on what to do for our celebration. Yesterday was the Fun Run. It was really, really, really, really fun. We got to run, then we had popsicles. We are going to start bringing our pledge money on Monday. Our class is in first place! Mrs. Baker and Jonae have matching fingernails! Two other friends looked like twins!
We had a great week! Yesterday we made wind vanes. We got a straw with a hole in it, and we put a triangle on it with tape on the back. We put a stick in the hole. We held it up. When the wind blew it told us which way the wind was blowing. We also learned about different weather instruments like a rain gauge. Today is Fun Friday. We practiced using good handwriting. Haley thought c was hardest. Alexandria thought a was hardest. The last day of this month is going to be Halloween! Some friends lost a tooth this week: Alexandria and Camden. We practiced -ing words. We are learning about measuring length. We compared names that are the same as ours, longer, and shorter. We learned about using non-standard units to measure. We used paperclips and bats. We got new crayons this week! We read Gail Gibbons book called Bats! We also read Stellaluna. I have a wonderful Friday!
I liked this week. School is fun. We learned –in, -it, and –ill words. We also learned about a lot of shapes. We learned that 3-D shapes have edges, faces, and vertices. Diamonds are rhombuses. We have a new author named Gail Gibbons. She writes non-fiction books. We read her book called Owls. We learned about apples and wrote a story about how apples grow. Miranda’s mom read us the book called Otis. In science, we learned about weather. We learned that if it is under 32 degrees, it can snow. We also learned more about the seasons. Today we had a test. Mrs. Baker says she had a great birthday week. Thank you very, very much! Today we have the playground and Fun Friday. It was a great week! I hope we do it again! I hope we have a great weekend!
