We are going to talk about our week. Today we had book buddies. Last night was our musical. It was called "The Little Bell that Couldn't Ring". The musical was about a family of bells. Alex was one of the bells. We read some books about Hanukkah. We learned about Sacagawea, Lewis, and Clark. We made posters about them. They traveled across the land that Thomas Jefferson bought from France. It was called "The Voyage of Discovery". They had 40 men traveling with them, and they made it to the coast of Oregon. Clark brought his dog named Seaman. They met Sacagawea and her baby on their way. She helped them find their way. They jumped in the water to save important papers and supplies when the boat tipped over. They built a fort during winter time to stay warm. Reagan L.'s birthday was this week. She turned seven. Today we have Fun Friday. We will also have a bus safety puppet show. We had a fun week!
This was a great week! Ellie came back. Reagan L. also came back. We missed them both. It is almost Christmas. Today we had the Polar Express! The Polar Express is a book where kids are in their pajamas going to the North Pole. We wore our pajamas because we went to the cafeteria to get on the Polar Express train. We pretended to go around the mountain and see wolves. We got bell necklaces from the North Pole. They were as cold as snow! We ate chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate with marshmallows! Today is Jonathan's birthday. We also had the holiday lunch. We had the book fair after the holiday lunch. We have a new author for December. Her name is Jan Brett.
We are also studying a new person in history, Thomas Jefferson. We learned that once he read for fourteen hours in one day! He wrote the Declaration of Independence. He helped our country become free from England. At first we only had 13 colonies. He went to the College of William and Mary to become a lawyer. He was our third president. He sent two explorers named Lewis and Clark to explore the rest of our country. He is on Mount Rushmore. We are learning about tens and ones in math. That is called place value. This week was the best week. |
