This week was fun! Both Kaley and Kaylee had a birthday! We had ice cream from Kaley, and we'll have cupcakes today! Our marble jar is already almost half-way full! We read Laura Numeroff's books called Jellybeans and the Big Book Bananza and What Mommies / Daddies Do Best. We wrote about our family. We also read Grumpy Bird. We read a kid's cookbook and wrote a recipe for turkey. We practiced using compound words. We learned more about time and calendars in math. Mrs. Baker is checking off everyone who can tell time. In Social Studies we learned about Thomas Jefferson. We learned that he knew Benjamin Franklin. He was our third president. He had a very big garden.
This week was a great week! On Monday we had character dress-up day. We got to bring toys and stuffed animals as a reward for filling up our marble jar. We also heard a story and cut paper to make a little jack-o-lantern house. We read If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laura Numeroff. We also read If You Give A Moose A Muffin and The Chicken Sisters. She is our new author for November. We did an experiment with flowers in the science lab. The food coloring in the water changed the color of the flower. It traveled up the stem. We watched "Magic Schoolbus Goes To Seed." It taught us more about plants and how they grow. We learned that flowers can make seeds. In math we learned about time. We learned that when the minute hand has gone half-way around the clock, the hour hand will move half-way to the next hour. We practiced writing tall letters and letters that fall below the line. This week was good!
